    Avg. MB Virtual Memory

    We take a snapshot of your virtual memory footprint across all processes running on your account twelve times a day and multiply the average MB of Virtual Memory (VIRT = RES + SWAP) by 0.005 to calculate your cost for that day. With an average Rails app on Mongrel using ~50MB of VIRT, this would be ~$0.25/day. Costs can be significantly lower with Thin, and especially with Passenger and FastCGI because they are not statically loaded in memory.
