How does my affiliate link work?
When someone clicks through your link, they are directed to our main site and a cookie is placed on their computer that lasts for 30 days. If at any time within those 30 days the visitor signs up for any of our plans, we give you credit for the referral.
Do I have to use my affiliate link?
No you don't have to, you can have customers tell us your name or email address in the 'How did you hear about us' section of the sign-up form and you'll get the referral credit.
How and when will I get paid?
We pay out commissions via PayPal during the last week of the month for the previous month's referrals as long as the balance we owe you is over $50.00 USD.
How can I track my earnings?
You can login to your affiliate center (which is integrated into your HostingRails.com Account Center) and see the IP address (with a quick-link to geopositioning and host information) and the URL referrer of every click through your affiliate link. You can also see a list of your referrals and corresponding clicks that earned you cash (which is helpful for optimizing referral techniques).
Do I need an active hosting account with you to be an affiliate?
Not necessarily, if you don't want a hosting plan then please contact us and tell us you would like to just participate in our affiliate program. Also, all expired hosting accounts can still participate, so your affiliate link never expires.
Do my referral earnings count towards my hosting costs?
Yes, in fact when it comes time for you to upgrade or renew your account, we will automatically apply your referral credits to your bill before charging you.
Can I make retro-active referrals?
No, sorry. Once a client creates an account with us, their referrer (if any) cannot be changed, even if they open multiple accounts.
What if a client signs up for a reseller, dedicated server, or VPS plan?
We do not offer affiliate payouts for VPS, reseller plans, or dedicated servers at this time. However, a majority of our clients signup for at least one shared hosting plan so you are very likely to earn referral credit.
Can I spam my affiliate link?
No. No. No. Doing so breaks our terms and conditions, which is grounds for termination of your hosting and affiliate accounts with us and forfeiture of all your unpaid referral credits.
