anyone know how to fix the problem? ive read the mephisot faq, but when adding the directory slash off comment to the end of the .htaccess file, my blog no longer runs. i tried it in both the .htaccess of the blog and in my global public file. thanks.

Ok - am I understanding you correctly that your homepage works OK, but that the number of comments is just displaying incorrectly? What does that have to do with the .htaccess ? Sounds like a coding issue?
