Associating an add-on domain to a rails app already running on a subdomain?

Say i have a rails app running at: myapp.123xxx.xxxx.hostingrails.com

On the server there's a symbolic link directory like this:
username/public_html/myapp -> /home/username/apps/myapp/curent

I bought a domain name (say: myapp.com) for the app and i've set up the name servers for that domain name to point to hostingrails. I'd like the adress www.myapp.com to show the application.

I understand i now need to use the add-on domain section in cpanel. But after a couple of unsuccessful attempts to associate the domain name with my app ('application failed to start' errors when accessed via the domain name, but working normally through the subdomain) i thought i had better ask here.

Given the above situation, what information should i be adding to the fields of the add-on domain form in cpanel? is there anything special i need to do?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello,

You should not be facing any issues while accessing it via your addon domain. Make sure that you are clearing your browser cache before making a try. If you are still facing any problems please  contact/post a ticket to the support team on this. So that we can see it there is any misconfiguration on the server for your addon domain.

I am having the same problem using my subdomain as an addon domain.
The nameserver changes didn't work out for any reason I am now trying to analyze.
Creating a new addon domain in Cpanel leads to the "Error from domain wrapper: Domain already exists..." error.

Just to be sure, I do not have to change anything in cpanel, htacces or any other file of my app1 resp. app2 (which is running as a subdomain of app1) in order to make the domain point to the subdomain?
