previewing multiple domains?

The short question:
Can I preview multiple domains ( my main domain plus two addons) before I've switched the DNS to point to the hosting rails servers?

The details:
I'm brand new to hostRails.com and, thanks to your tutorials, I have two rails applications up and running; one under my main domain and one as an addon domain. My account has a static IP which made it very easy to preview the first application I installed. Then I followed the directions for adding on a domain and installed my second application. Now I can see my second application but I can't see the first. additionally I have not switched the DNS servers over yet; I wanted to get the sites up and running before I did that.

Thanks,
   William

Since you have a dedicated IP you won't be able to get a HostingRails parked domain for preview - so you'll need to just point a dummy domain at your IP (or nameservers) and park it (and the subdomains, as needed) over your main domain and addon domains.

Good question. I hope this helps.

William thanks for the quick reply.

I suspect your answer would help if I understood what you said. Unfortunately I'm really new to the back end and things like dummy domains, parked domains, etc. are pretty fuzzy for me. Would you please give me a few more details?

Sorry - no problem.

By 'dummy domain' I mean, just grab a 99 cent .info domain at goDaddy or something (or use one you already own) and change its nameservers to point to your server (or just change its DNS records to have an A record point to your dedicated IP)

so
www.domain.info -> your_main_domain.com
sub1.domain.info -> your_addon_domain.com
sub2.domain.info -> your_second_addon_domain.com

Or - and this is slightly more fancy - just have an wilcard A record:

*.domain.info

point to your IP.

Then - just 'park' the dummy domains on top of your main/addon domains.  This can be done in your cPanel.

OK. Thanks for elaborating.
