Postgresql authentication

Just signed up, but seem to be having a problem with creating PostgreSQL databases - in cPanel, I click 'add db', get a success message, but nothing seems to have happened; similarly, when I'm ssh'd in, I can't psql to the db, which leads me to suspect authentication.
This seems to be the same as a couple other posts (e.g. this), but no solutions are posted, so I'm not sure what to do.

It is a server wide postgres authentication issue. I have sorted it out. Could you give a try now?
