There is a part that requires installing some pear packages (mage-setup).
It fails on the web based installer and if I try to do it from shell it says permission denied.

I am looking to test this cart out. Anyone know how to get this shopping cart to work?

Please note that Cpanel utility that is available for your account provides 3rd party e-commerce softwares like Cube Cart,OS commerce, Zen cart.
Cpanel does provide support for installation of these softwares, and they are very easy to install. I would recommend you to have a look into these at this path Cpanel>>Fantastico
Also we don't support/recommend installation of other third party softwares that are not available in Cpanel.

Well if anyone else here finds away to install this or what I am doing wrong please let me know.
This shopping cart looks to have a lot of promise and it seems to blow those other carts away.

The requirements to install this software have been now met on the server according to http://www.magentocommerce.com/system-requirements (PDO/MySQL support has been enabled). You may now go ahead and try installing it in your account. In regards to the pear package problem - try following the link below.
