Connecting to db externally

So far I've been connecting to my DB via phpMyAdmin, but I need to connect to it from an external source. what's the url I need to use? I've tried my IP that I was assigned but that doesn't work.

You need to set your computer's IP address in the 'allowed hosts' section of your cPanel (under MySQL) - then you will be to connect to your account IP. Let us know if that doesn't help.

Hmmm, I thought I'd done that but obviously my dns hadn't propogated.. Putting in my IP did the trick! Cheers!!
