As Thunderbird forwards a lot of emails this way, what can be done?

Hello,

This is occuring because entries for the .eml extension is included in the "antivirus settings" related file which is being utilized by exim (e-mail) service to overcome spam. Please change the settings of the e-mail client that you are using to the standard ones so that you can overcome the issue. Also note that we cannot remove the current settings in the server to allow the same.

change the settings of the e-mail client that you are using to the standard ones

In Thunderbird change "Tools | Options | Composition | Forward Messages" from "Inline" to "as Attachment"

Please refer the links below. Also it is best preffered to send e-mails via plain text.

Hello,

Can you make things straight? Is it working or not working.
I mean are you still having issue with Thunderbird.

It is working.  If Thunderbird's "Forward Messages" option is set to "Inline" it won't work (it creates an attachment called "(null).eml").  If it is set to "as Attachment" it will work.  I post this info so future victims will find it when searching the forum.

This is just FEI (for everybody's information).  I don't expect a response.

That didn't actually work.  The above only fixes the (null) case.  The .eml extention is added on attachments.  This discussion is about it

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=220646

This Thunderbird extension can be used to zip or just rename the attachment

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/4003

Also rejected are attachments where the name *starts* with unapproved file names like "hostingrails.com doesn't do Java", "ipconfig.exe is a useful program", etc., while "exim finds hostingrails.com with a regexp" will sail through just fine.

Received emails from our customers are rejected in the same way.
