SSH Certificate expired?

Hi All,

Anyone experience their SSL certificate being reported as expired? It's killed my ability to send email and I'm not sure whether I need to self-generate a certificate or if the one that has expired was for the spurgeon host.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi Charles,
What is the exact text of the error message ?
Where/when exactly are you receiving this error message ?

Ahh - yeah - I had this happen to me once before.  It would be best to generate a new CSR and use that to re-key your CRT when you renew it.  Upload the new key and crt to your root and contact support to install it.

Hi Sijin,

I'm receiving the message any time that I try to send a message to the SMTP server. The message in the pop-up box reads:

"You have received an invalid certificate. Please contact the administrator or email correspondent and give them the following information:

Your certificate contains the same serial number as another certificate issued by the certificate authority. Please get a new certificate containing a unique serial number."

Per William's comment, I've regenerated a new CSR and CRT (both appear in the ssl directory). Any help is appreciated. FWIW, I've also deleted the stored keys from my email client (Thunderbird) but I still get the same error.

It can happen if your browser saved the email certificate locally .
The work around you can try depends on your browser:

For Internet Explorer:

Go to Tools > Internet Options > Content Tab > Certificates > Trust Root Certification Authorities > Where it says Intended purpose: select Client Authentication > Look for your certificate > select it and Remove it

For Firefox:

Go to Edit > Preferences > Privacy and Security > Certificates > Manage Certificates and look for the the certificate and remove it

Hi Sijin,

Removed the certificate and that didn't fix the issue. Not sure what the scoop is (my email client is Thunderbird, btw).

Hi Sijin,

Hmm, somehow Thunderbird had picked up two certs (I cleared all of them out yesterday), so I deleted them and restarted and now things seem to work fine.  :-)

Glad it's fixed :)
