I had it working with Navicat but it won't now!

I set up navicat to connect without SSH it works fine

but then whe I enter my cpanel user name password in the navicat ssh page I get an error message

Access denied for user 'mysql user name'@'my_ip_address' (using password: YES)

Please advise. Should I be able to connect to the DB with out any tunneling?

Hi - Please make sure that you are using the correct Mysql username and password to login. You should be using the database name as cpanelusername_databasename and the database username cpanelusername_database username. Thank you

I think the Mysql user name & password is correct as I can connect without ssh but if I wish to use ssh I fill the ssh page with the cpanel user name & password keeping the database ones the same?

Ok - Make sure that you are giving your IP ( global IP of your local system) in

cPanel >> MySQL >> allowed hosts

Yes I checked with www.whatsmyipaddress.com/ and popped that in the Remote Database Access Hosts

Are you able to connect to the database after that ?

I just tried Cyberduck and after unchecking the publickey authentication it worked the Encoding is on default whereas in navicat it was on Have I got to Install public key on my computer?

This is What I can do.

1   connect to database with out ssh from my computer
2   connect to database from my application on the server
3   I can use ssh for the shell scripting

what I want to do

connect to the database securely from my computer with Navicat

my computer is on a network here but I got the ip address as recommended

The my sql user name and password is different for me on my computer and the application on the computer.

How does the cpanel connect to mysql I think most hosting companies are very careful how we connect to mysql?? But as I say I am a beginner at this. Is there a host mysql user i might have deleted?

Hi - Could you please post a support ticket to us with all the details (including you database name username and password). I am not pretty sure - How Navicat is configured . It would be better if you can paste us the setting that you have made so that we get a better idea.
