Mysql::Error: Can't create/write to file '/tmp/#sql_3b1_0.MYI' (Errcode: 30)

I am suddenly getting the following error message from my rails app :

Mysql::Error: Can't create/write to file '/tmp/#sql_3b1_0.MYI' (Errcode: 30): SELECT * FROM properties  ORDER BY featured_on_homepage DESC, RAND() DESC LIMIT 2
  /usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.15.3/lib/active_record/connection_adapters/abstract_adapter.rb:128:in `log'

phpmyadmin gives me this error :

Cannot start session without errors, please check errors given in your PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP installation properly.

Can u help please!?

We've fixed this issue. Could you try this again now ?

This issue occurred today for an hour and 15mins. It is working now so I assume you guys fixed it. We can't be experiencing availability issues like this - is a permanent solution in place now?

Yes, We hope this is resolved for ever. Thanks for your patience.

Afraid it has happened again for a 15min period.

Mysql::Error: Can't create/write to file '/tmp/#sql_1766_0.MYI

Then my mongrel_cluster went down. What's up?

Hello,

Are you facing the issue now. I just checked and the mongrels were running fine...Can you please confirm the current status.

Yes, I restarted the Mongrels. The Mysql errors occurred before the Mongrels died. Not sure if there was any connection between the 2 events.

Your update is not clear. Are you facing the issues now..?

The mysql error occurred for a period of 15mins only. Since then it has been fine.

After the mongrels went down I restarted them. So the site is now up.

My concern is that the logs don't indicate anything abnormal, and you aren't able to tell me the reason for either of the issues above. Since both issues might require manual intervention to resolve (either from your side or mine) this is causing an availability issue for my client, and a sense of uneasiness for myself.

Thanks.

Codevader -

The issue was due to file system related errors which has been sorted. Let us know if you face this again.

Both issues?

2007-12-09 04:49 AM

Yes, Both.
