For some reason, my ftp uploads are painfully slow recently with lots of long pauses, socket errors and such. The rest of the 'net is responding quickly. Pings to HostingRails.com are averaging just over 100 ms.
What are the optimum settings on my end? I'm limiting it to a single connection, and using passive transfers.
Or is there a problem on the server. Could the ftp service need restarting, or have too low a priority?
