Installing wordpress where a rails app used to be

Hi,

I tried installing wordpress via fantastico under the root of my site. However, I previous had a rails app running under that root. Now, I am receiving a 404 Not Found error.

How do I remove all references to the app so that the wordpress install will show properly? I've already removed the symlink.

Thanks in advance,
Scott

This is fixed now. I've replied to your support request.

I have the same question as Scott above, but your reply doesn't give me the info I need. Please be patient, I am still a novice.

I currently have a Rails app in my root directory that I want to take down (perhaps link to it later) and replace it with WordPress for my homepage and CMS.

I've read enough of the posts/tutorials to finally understand the symlinking (I hope).

I get confused on what is supposed to be in the public_html folder. I still have the public_html_backup folder I made when I initially ran the rails app--am I supposed to go back to it?

Also I'm not sure how the .htaccess file(s?) should be changed.

Thanks in advance,
Cindy

Now I could see that your public_html is a symlink. You can remove it and move the old directory back. Then you can have your WordPress inside that.
