I recently purchased a VPS plan for a client for whom I host a website built with PHP/MySQL. We selected a VPS plan because we wanted more reliability than is available with shared hosting.
Administering a linux box is a bit out of my forte, which is why my client purchased the "Fully Managed & Monitoring" option.
I need to do the following tasks:
-Setup Apache to host the web site.
-Setup an FTP server so I can upload files to the web directory.
-Setup MySQL so I can access it with Navicat/PhpMyAdmin.
-Setup a mail server with a few email accounts.
-Ensure that the firewall is buttoned down.
I installed the RailsReady package because it included Webmin/Virtualmin, which I thought would assist me with these tasks, but it still seems a bit above the learning curve that I am ready to tackle.
Can you all help me with these tasks, and if so, does it fall under the purview of the "Fully Managed & Monitoring" option.
If not, what do you recommend? Was VPS the wrong way to go?
Thanks,
-Nathan
