email forwarders

Hello.  I recently set up a bunch of email forwarders and they seem to be working very sporadically.  I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem or if I am misunderstanding how they are supposed to work.

For example, I set up a forwarder for webmaster@mydomain.com to two email accounts me@gmail.com and me@anotherdomain.com.  When I send an email from my gmail account to the forwarder my "anotherdomain" account gets the message, but gmail doesn't.  When I send a message from my "anotherdomain" account to the forwarder, both accounts get it.  I checked my gmail spam folder and my message isn't going there.

The clients for whom I set up the site use the forwarders quite a bit, and they are seeing similar problems, particularly when sending a message from a yahoo email account.

Does anyone have any insight into this?  I used forwarders at host on which I previously ran this site and they always worked with no problem.

Hello,

                          |------> me@gmail.com
 webmaster@mydomain.com
                          |------> me@anotherdomain.com

As per your query you have set mail forwarder for "webmaster@mydomain.com" I.e a mail sent to "webmaster@mydomain.com" will be resend to "me@gmail.com" and
"me@anotherdomain.com".

But this doesn't mean that a mail send to "me@anotherdomain.com" will not be resend to "me@gmail.com" and "webmaster@mydomain.com".

Also a mail send to "me@gmail.com" will not be resend to "webmaster@mydomain.com" and "me@anotherdomain.com".

I hope you have understood the exact working now....

Thanks for your reply (and sorry for my really delayed reply).  I'm not expecting that mail sent to me@anotherdomain.com would resend to me@gmail.com and me@anotherdomain.com.  I understand that I have to send a message to webmaster@mydomain.com in order for it to forward to the other addresses (that's the behavior that I was expecting).

The issue that I am seeing is that when I send mail to webmaster@mydomain.com it does not always forward to the two addresses.  Most of my forwards have more than one email address associated with them.  Is it possible that I have set them up wrong?  Do I have access to logs so that I can see what happens when I send an email to an address that I have set up as a forwarder?

Thanks!
Katie
