connecting to database using mysql.sock

I want to connect to my mysql database via mysql.sock. I heard it can improve performance by as much as 20%.

I tried setting socket: /tmp/mysql.sock just now, but it did not work. There is a link from the file to another location. Seems OK.

Does /tmp/mysql.sock work on HostingRails' servers?

We already have a socket created inside /tmp for MySQL. Could you tell us how exactly are you trying to connect to MySQL ?
