Any ideas on getting it to report IPs more consistently?
Weird request.remote_ip issue

My site seems to be attracting a lot of spam, so I thought I'd start blacklisting people to stop the buggers. Since Yahoo got hacked just blocking emails isn't enough, so I want to blacklist Ip's with a view to possibly blocking a range if necessary. Trouble is, request.remote_ip doesn't always pick up on a visitors ip address so it's impossible to block them.

Hi - If you want to block the traffic from any IPs to your website, you can do it via your cPanel
cPanel >> IP Deny Manager
cPanel >> IP Deny Manager

Absolutely, but I'd rather keep the system I have in place already where when I blacklist someone they get deleted from the database and their details are added to the blacklisted list. It all happens on one click of a button in my admin pages. Plus I still need to be able to find their IP without having to resort to log trawling.

You can find the IPs from your cPanel control panel > Awstats section.
